Oakhurst Legal Group - SBA HUBZone Certified Law Firm

We are happy to announce that our firm, the Oakhurst Legal Group, has been approved for SBA HUBZone Designation. Our firm has already been certified by the SBA which makes us qualified to participate in the HUBZone program. As of August 3, 2021, there are 7,550 firms with active HUBZone certifications. 

Why is This Certification Important? 

The Small Business Administration or SBA conducts several programs which aim to support small businesses. One of these programs is the Historically Underutilized Business Zone Empowerment Contracting (HUBZone) program. 

The HUBZone program provides participating small businesses located in areas with low income, high poverty, or high unemployment with contracting opportunities in the form of set-asides, sole-source awards, and price-evaluation preferences. This certification will help these HUBZone-certified companies by awarding them at least 3% federal contract dollars each year. 

What are the qualifications? 

To be eligible for the HUBZone program, your company must meet the following qualifications: 

1. It must be a small business by SBA standards;

2. It must be owned and controlled at least 51% by U.S. citizens, or a Community Development Corporation, or an agricultural cooperative or an Indian tribe; 

3. Its principal office must be located within a “Historically Underutilized Business Zone,” which includes lands considered “Indian Country” and military facilities closed by the Base Realignment and Closure Act; and 

4. At least 35% of its employees must reside in a HUBZone
